Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Why can’t I see the larger view
images?
A: If you use a
pop-up blocker, you will not be able to see the larger view images.
If you want to see the larger view images, you will need to change
your settings to allow popups at KayDesignZ.com.
Q: What exactly are digital
products?
A: The digital
products that are sold by KayDesignZ are downloadable, digital files
that are either jpeg files or png files. Jpeg files are used for
background images such as papers. Png files are used for everything
else, because the format allows transparency. While actual products
are high-quality 300 pixel per inch (ppi) files, web site images are
displayed in lower quality, 72 ppi format jpeg files to facilitate
viewing.
Q: I am a paper scrapper, but I
would love to try digital scrapping. How do I start?
A: It may sound
highly technical, but it’s nothing more than moving a few pictures
around. There are many tutorials on the Internet. Do some research,
and you will find a variety of products for beginners. Personally, I use Paint Shop Pro 9 and Photoshop Elements 6. For the
non-designer, I recommend Photoshop Elements.
Also, remember
that most, if not all of my products, can be printed out and used in
traditional paper scrapping. Alternatively, you can try a
combination of digital and paper scrapping. That’s the beauty of
scrapping—nothing is ever “wrong.” You can do whatever your
imagination desires. You can “GOOGLE” for additional products as
well as specific tutorials and techniques.
Q: How do I print digital scrapbook
pages? Can I still make 12”x12” pages?
A: All of my papers are
12”x12”. To print them, or your layouts that use them, you can send
your files to a digital lab or go to your local Kinko's. The web site www.scrapbooksplease.com now
offers “bargain” prints at .99. Of course, you can buy your own
wide-format printer. Googling will provide you with limitless
choices. See “Resources” at the end.
Q: How do I download files?
A: Click the download button to load the product onto
your computer. The download program on your computer should kick
into action when you do that. After it’s loaded on your computer,
you will need a program like WinZip to extract (unzip) the files.
At that point, you
will see the individual paper and element files, and you can “insert
picture from file” to put them in your document. You can also and
cut and paste (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V) them within documents. Note: Please
be sure to back up your original zipped file onto a non-rewriteable
CD for archive purposes in case of computer failure.
Q: If I have problems downloading one of your kits, what do I do?
A: You should use a download manager to increase the reliability
and speed of downloading large files over the Internet--especially
if you have dial-up. Check out Download Accelerator Plus–it’s FREE at http://www.speedbit.com.
At KayDesignZ, you have 2 hours and two download attempts to access your files. If you get an
error message, wait a while, and then try again. Be sure to delete
the corrupt file and empty it out of your wastebasket before
attempting to download it again. If you get an error message the
second time, please email me with the information, and I will check
into it immediately. Many things can cause problems, i.e., storms,
heavy Internet traffic, computer goblins, signals from outer
space-LOL. Never fear, however, if all else fails; I can always
email you the product. Computers, while they often seem like magic,
more often than not require finessing. I’ll do whatever it takes to
make sure that you get a quality product in a timely manner.
